Community & Corporate Philanthropy

We have drawn strength from our local community and we have been blessed with a healthy and profitable business. It has long been a core value that we would contribute back into our community and share some of our profit.

We have particularly favoured support for artistic projects which we believe enhance community life. We also have worked closely with environmental repair. Two of these themes come together in our rainforest garden in Ballina and the Thursday Plantation East Coast Sculpture Show. The gardens include a delightful section of re-established littoral rainforest, where we planted over 4,000 natives while preserving the biodiversity of this remnant.

Through these beautiful gardens is set a wonderful collection of great sculptures from around Australia. Fountains and a lovely walkway also grace the gardens surrounding our factory. Our sponsorship of outdoor sculpture has seen this art form flourish over the past decade, and we now have one of the finest collections in regional Australia on permanent display. There is also a Visitors Education Centre and restaurant with nearly 40,000 visitors a year. It is open 7 days a week.

maze

Our gardens include a magnificent maze made from Tea Tree and Lilly Pilly called “The Spirit of Australia”. This adjoins a natural outdoor amphitheatre in which we have many wonderful concerts and special events which draw thousands of people.

We have established long term collaborations with wonderful ventures such as The Woodford Folk Festival and Northern Rivers Performing Arts and the Byron Bay Writers’ Festival. We have maintained strong links with environmental causes starting with regeneration of a small pocket of rainforest on our own land, and a long time sponsor relationship with Rainforest Rescue, a leading organisation for conservation of rainforest.

The Thursday Plantation East Coast Sculpture Show each year presents a fascinating exhibition of about 80 contemporary works. They join a growing permanent collection of award-winning sculptures by Australian artists from all over the East Coast of Australia, particularly show-casing the art of talented people from the Northern Rivers region.

This is the way the world should be.

Rainforest Rescue is a not for profit organisation committed to saving our rainforests for current and future generations. Rainforests contain Australia's greatest diversity of plants and animals. Nationally, over 75% of Australia's rainforests have been cleared and the remnants need your help to survive against the impact of fragmentation, weeds, fire and other threats.
